Nowadays, that we are busy with studying and caring for our careers we often tend to forget that we need to treat our bodies with respect, because if you neglect your body from now on you will not be able to make it to your goals in good health and complete happiness. And one of the things that we often tend to forget about is the vitamins that we need in our daily diet. I am therefore introducing "The Vitamin Guide" where I will present you to a vitamin each time and why it is important to consume and how you can increase your intake in the certain vitamins through your daily diet.
This first post is about the essential vitamin C. Vitamin C is classified as an "essential" since our bodies do not naturally produce this vitamin, and we are therefore only able to get vitamin C into our systems through our diet.
But why is it so important for us to consume Vitamin C? Vitamin C is an antioxidant which means that it is a molecule that inhibits oxidation of other molecules. Oxidation reactions can produce free radicals which can lead to the start of chain reactions. When these chain reactions occur in a cell it can cause damage or even death to the cell.
Vitamin C is also involved in the production of collagen. Collagen is a protein that holds the whole body together. It is most commonly found in the skin, bones and conective tissue within the body, which provides the structural support and strength as well elasticity. Collagen is however, made up of amino acids, out of these amino acids nine of them are considered to be essential, which as introduced above means that we can not produce ourselves. Therefore the consumption of Vitamin C is almost vital in the collagen production
Vitamin C also helps with wound healing. If a person lacks Vitamin C however they will often find that they have a more difficult time in healing their wounds and and they will also experience bone and joint pain as well as gum bleeding.
But it is very simple to avoid the lack of vitamin C because almost anything around you contains this essential vitamin. Some of the few are the following:
- Lemon
- Oranges
- Carrots
- Cabbage
- Spinach
- Tomatoes
- Strawberries
- Brocollli
Remember to pay your body respect! Because you only have one, so why not cherish it?

Youtube is a media that has made its mark for the past few years and has become very popular, and although many might think it, this media is not only a platform for youtube personalities but also many series that a very large audience can indulge in.
There are five of these series that I find very appealing, and that I often like to watch during my study breaks or just to get my mind of things. This is a compilation of documentary style videos that I find very entertaining, some from the eyes of the large fashion industry, some from the eyes of a boy who wanders around the world and some from the perspective of the many different people around whole world.
The Vogue youtube channel is the host of many different series that I have found myself loving lately. Two of these are:
- 73 questions - In this mini series different celebrities and "big names" get asked 73 different questions. In this video you follow these people who are being questioned around in their own households, the vouge head station or just at their work space. It is all a written script - ofcourse the questions are answered truthfully - but a whole set up is made which is both somewhat comedic and very interesting to watch.
- Inside the wardrobe of - Now this is a less scripted series, but so inspiring and such a treat to the eye (if you are fond of fashion). In this series you get an insight into the wardrobe of fashion icons as well as a personal insight into their personalities with the "chapter two" of the series that is a small mini interview ofcourse revolving around style.
- Sweet tales - This series is a mini documentary that takes you out and about in Japan and introduces you to the countries sweet cuisine. Their old videos do not have english subtitles however the new ones do. In these discoveries you get up close with the cooking of the food, the personal history of the people who create the food and the relation that they have with this certain type of sweets. It is heart warming and truthfully very lovely to watch.
- 24 hours in - A youtube series started by the young Jack Harries who owns the youtube channel Jacksgap (which the series appears on). In this series he discovers a city in 24 hours. These videos are not that long and contain highlights of the trip, but well editied and really a nice insight to a different culture and a real treat to the eye as well.
- Around the Word - And last but not least is a youtube series by the channel Cut Video in this series they go around the world and they interview different people with different backgrounds about the same subject, for example there was the video "America around the world" where you can get an insight to what kind of stereotype that have been built about America in different locations.
Most importantly, and what all of these videos have in common is the discovery of something new. Its about opening up your eyes for something that you might not have stumbled upon in your everyday life, its about getting an insight into the different people that are around you in the world, and just realizing how small the world is after all.

Sometimes we find ourselves in a position where we are about to give up on everything. Where everything we have worked for just seems like wasted time and we don't want anything to do with it, and so we loose that little grain of motivation that we had left. That little ounce of ambition. But that is something that we should never let go of. Something that we should cherish and that we should pursue.
I know the feeling of not being able to get further than where you are at, and so you want to quit. So about a year ago I decided that I should make a list where I write down reasons for my hard work, and why I should not quit. And so here are 10 of those points written on the list. Things that should make you think twice.
- Think about how far you have come - is it worth letting go of all that you have accomplished?
- Hard work leads to many qualities - Even if you don't accomplish your goals you will have earned many other qualities that will lead you on to your next adventure, such as good work ethic and disciplin
- Failing can help sending in the right direction - If you never try you will truly never know what you are capable of
- If you let go now you will never know what might come next - Many authors have been told no up to many times and yet they are now best selling authors and millionairs - what if your next move will bring you a "yes" instead of a "no" and change your whole life.
- The further you go, the more knowledge you will have obtained - which means that you are now more educated, and although it might not have made your big break through in a certain field, you will have gained experience that might be very beneficial in another field that you will find more comfortable and make you more eligibal to overcome tasks that others might not have a great insight to.
- Think about the future that is in store if you succeed - Think about how financially stable you might become, how people will have an automatic respect for you. How you will be able to not limit yourself.
- The more you get insight into a field, the more oppurtunities you will have - Once you want to explore and decide to go further, you will automatically as a result of working hard be more aware of what this certain thing can bring you.

In the process of still moving into a small apartment, I am still actively looking for ways to design and decorate my new place. It has struck that just placing a bed and a table will not be enough, because this will for many be an area that one will live in for a few years, and thats why it is important to take that time out and create a "homely" sense of style in the apartment, so that not only will your happiness improve, but overall your life quality will be much better.
I have collected a few pictures, which I am trying to get inspired by and try to apply something from each in my new place. I know that some of the furniture on the pictures migh seem expensive, and in many occassions students don't have a great deal of money (fortunately I am in Europe and I recieve monthly "student" checks for attending school), and I have also been saving up for my movement. But if you find yourself in a situation where you don't have quite the money, and you really haven't been saving up, then flee markets and garage sales are always an option.
But either way the most essential thing is making it your own and making your own mark.

On a busy day, it is very difficult to actually intake a healthy and well rounded breakfast. That is why I love to bake breakfast muffins - in the form of healthy banana bread bites, because I can make one batch and just take one with me every morning. Even making the batch does not take any effort, nor does it need any extra expenses all of these ingredients are things that can be found all around your house.
What you will need for a batch is the following:
Put all of the ingredients into the food processer, meanwhile coat the muffin tins with either baking paper or oil. Have the batch mix in the food processer until a creamy consistency is achieved and all of the oats are broken down.
When the batter is done it will look somewhat like this:
Put about two - three tablespoons of the batter into each muffin form, and then into the already preheated oven. Bake them for around 15 - 20 minutes in 200 degrees celcius.
When the banana bites are done, they are very light and consistency, as they should be because this recipe does not contain any flour nor oil, but yogurt ( which gives it a lot of moisture, so don't be surprised by that)
When they are done you can choose to serve them with icing sugar powdered on top or just plain, either way you have a scrumptious and fluffy banana filled surprise awaiting you.
Remember that it is important to fuel your body from the start of the day as it starts up your metabolism and gives your body and brain a good head start.

What you will need for a batch is the following:
- 2 cups of oats
- 1 cup of plain greek yogurt
- 1/4 cup of brown sugar
- 2 ripe bananas
- 2 eggs
- ½ tsp. baking powder
- ½ tsp. baking soda
- 1 tsp. Cinnamon (optional)
You can also instead of cinnamon add in blueberries, chocolate chips or simply vanilla sugar. The "bite" is very healthy, so don't try to limit yourself from the option of adding in a bit of sugar.
Now this recipe does not aquire a whisk nor anything else for that matter besides a food processer. This is the best way to do this recipe because you want the oats to be broken down, so that a "doughy" consistency can be achieved.
So first and foremost, start off by preheating the oven.
Afterwards mix in together all of the ingredients (if you are adding in chocolate chips, nuts or berries, then wait this afterwards)
Put all of the ingredients into the food processer, meanwhile coat the muffin tins with either baking paper or oil. Have the batch mix in the food processer until a creamy consistency is achieved and all of the oats are broken down.

Waking up in the morning can often become a rough task to complete, especially in times where the whole night have been spent studying and worrying about the next big report. It is therefore vital that the morning starts off good in order to have the right work ethic and right motivation to do all of these tasks correctly.
In the last few years I have been in corperating five different tasks into my morning routine so that I can have an improved morning and therefore accomplish the work that I expect from myself.
1. Brain training. As the first thing in the morning I usually start my day off with my daily brain training. This will not only stimulate my brain but it will also have me aquire more energy (because of my natural need to do good). This is a two way benefit. First of all it allows you to wake up and gets your brain activating, but it also benefits the knowledge that you accompany yourself with. Doing this daily can help you improve your listening skills along with your understanding and such.
The following apps can be recommended: Elevate, Neuronation & Fit Brains.
2. Hot lemon water. There are many people who start of the day with a hot beverage. Many choose coffee or tea. But many benefits can be gained by substituting that drink with hot lemon water (a coffee can although also be enjoyed afterwards). The reason for this is that the hot lemon water helps kickstart the digestion proces for the day. But it also contains a lot of beneficial vitamins. To read a whole guide on hot lemon water and how it should be done correctly read the following article!
3. Read the news. Not only can your brain be activited in the morning by doing brain training, but reading the news or watching the news for that instance can also increase your brain activity in the morning. It says that those who read in the morning - for that instance the news - do better than those who don't. I usually read the newspaper, but online news pages are also preferable,
The following news sites can be recommended: The New York Times, The Huffington Post & The Wall Street Journal.
4. Yoga. Incorperating yoga or just even light stretches in the morning can add a lot into your overall daily experience. It does the same to the body as splashing cold water onto the face does. It gets you activated. It helps you calm and it helps you stay collected.
5. Plan the day. One way to improve your morning is by planning the day. This way you will create an overview over the day which will lead to you being more aware and more calm when taking on the day. This can be done with the old school notebook or a variety of apps can be used.
I can recommend the following apps: Any.do, Planner plus & My Study Life (for school work)
Remember it is vital to get a good start to your day, so take the time to care for yourself even if its 5 minutes or so.

When we are on campus, the most desired outfit is easy and comfortable, but this will in many cases just lead up to sweatpants and a t shirt. Now although many might believe that fashion in that sense does not play an important rule when attending college or university, it is indeed wrong. Wearing clothing that makes you feel good - because lets be honest in many cases sweat pants just leads us up to feeling nasty and sloppy which can affect your work ethic - whilst putting an effort into the clothes you are bearing can lead to better work performance as a result of increased confidence - subconcious or obvious, anyway it works.
So I have been scrolling around pinterest. You can check mine out here!. And I have made a collection of outfits that are cute, comfortable and can be modified to once liking without taking away that sense of style or glam (for example placing the heels with sneakers)
Here is therefore the first weekly fashion roundup where inspiration and style is the key

One of the things that makes me strive even more after my dreams is the wish of being able to travel the world. The wish to be able to see the world with no limitations - so I have always been on google, in the library reading and studying different countries, different cultures and just exploring the world through different types of media - which has motivated me to create my own travel bucket list.
Five of those are going to be presented here in the first part of this series "Let us see the world"
1. Cattedrale di Santa Maria del Fiore, Florence (Italy)
As a major Assassins Creed fan, I have always adored the second series of the game that mainly took place in italy, and for that instance in Florence and Rome. Playing the game awoke a desire to see the country, because there is a lot of golden treasures still standing in Italy that has great historical value. One of those places is the Cattedrale di Santa Maria del Fiore - or the Florence Cathedral, which is located in Florence, and is the main church of Florence.
The building was started in 1296, and is the holder of great architecture that follows in the gothic style worked by Arnolfo di Cambio and the building was completed structurally in 1436, The dome of the building was engineered by Fillippo Brunelleschi.
2. Li River (China)
The Li River also known as "Guangxi" is a beautiful long river that flows 83 kilometres from Guilin to Yangshou, where big mountains and river sights are to be seen. Imagine sitting in a boat going through the river, with such peace and serenity.
This boat cruise can be enjoyed in small bamboo rafts or larger, air-conditioned ships - every man to their own taste, however I would prefer cruising along the river in a small bamboo boat, letting go of that man made feeling of luxury and indulge in the beauty around the world.
Speaking of nature, Scotland is also the beholder of many beautiful nature sights. One of which is the Old Man of Hoy placed in Orkney. The Old Man of Hoy is a 137 meter sea stack that is placed on the island of Hoy. The sea tack is formed from Old Red Sandstone, and is one of the tallest stacks in Britain.
Many have tried climbing this wonder, but the true wonder of this place is the sighting. Such a wonderful view facing towards the ocean. Surely it must be breathtaking to take upon this adventure.
4. Krol Ko (Cambodia)
In Cambodia yet another beautiful sight is to be found. Krol Ko - The Shed of the oxen - is a monument with two enclosing walls that is built of laterite equiped with an entry tower at the east and a moat with steps.
It was built in the late 12th century around early 13 th century by king Jayavarman VII in the Buddhist religion with following to Bayon style art.
5. Door to hell (Turkmenistan)
Now man made wonders is also one of the things that many surely should embark on in this world. One of these man made "creatings" is the door to hell placed in Turkmenistan. The "door" is a natural gas field in Derweze that had collapsed into an underground carven in 1971 which turned it into a natural gas crater. The fire appeared when Geologists set it on fire in order to prevent the spread of deadly methane gas, but it however turned into a continuorsly burning hole that till this day today is still burning.
The size of the area is 5,350 m2 which is the size of an American football field. Going to the Door of heel or the gates of fire is a great upportunity to not only appreciate basic chemistry but also how much one persons decision can cause so much fire.
But no matter where you go, or what place you decide to embrace, it is important that we constantly expand our horizons and that we don't stay blinded to our surroundings.

With the heat of the summer slowly dissappearing and the cold signs of falls slowly appearing, it is also a time for us to rethink our wardrobe and wear very different clothing, because in the fall a pair of shorts and a tank top is no longer passable and we need to adapt our wardrobe to the new found weather.
The leather jacket. The leather jacket is a great investment to make for the fall time, especially around that time when the weather is between warm and cold, and there is no need too buy a winter coat yet,but there is also no need to wear nothing.
A good leather jacket doesn't always have to be 100 % leather. The only way to make a leather jacket last is however by taking good care of it. Don't bother investing a lot of money in a jacket that you don't bother caring for, because it will be damaged then.
Ankle boots. Ankle boots are always ideal for the fall. They keep the feet warm and they are really cute. Ankle boots are beautiful with or without heels and they work for almost every outfit possible, so invest in a good pair, because they can last you a great deal of the fall (some even for years if they are taken really good care of)
Boyfriend jeans. They are comfortable, they are cozy, and they are beautiful to wear during the fall with a sweater on top. It is the most ideal pair of pants for the lazy girl that does not bother with the struggle of putting on skinny jeans and the most ideal for the person who strives in comfort. I would recommend to wear a pair of pantyhoes underneath if the weather is cold and the pair that you have invested in are ripped.
The peplum top. If the colder times also calls for more formal times then a peplum top is ideal. The amazing shape of the top will allow you to create an illusion of a smaller waist line, which is ideal for a time where all you want to do is put on a pair of boyfriend jeans and give up the skinny ones.
Adapting into fall is most importantly about embracing the new season. Take a cup of chocolate, enjoy it under a blanket with a good book.
Put on those ankle boots, take on that peplum top and conquer the world

I know that I try to keep things on this blog 100 % healthy and good for the body, but we sometimes to need something unhealthy in our diet, a little treat for both our bodies and soul. And I love when that little treat is a very nutty and delicious chocolate chip cookie.
As many might know, baking to me is a "get away" activity, something that I do to forget about my stress and a way for me to relax, so making these is both a treat before and after making them. I especially love making these because the dough is so fluffy and light that it feels like whipping up cotton candy, and it is super easy to make, and only takes about 25 minutes (including baking time) - so I thought that this would be an essential recipe to share with all of you, because we all need a little sweet treat in our lives.
What you will need for a batch of 25 cookies is the following:
- 250 g brown sugar
- 150 g butter
- 1 egg
- ½ tsp. vanilla sugar
- 250 g flour
- 1 tsp. baking powder
- ½ tsp. salt
- 100 g nuts of your choice (I used walnuts)
- 100 g chocolate of your choice
I love using walnuts because they have a really creamy and amazing taste in these cookies
*You can also use self raising flour as I did and not include baking powder in the recipe
The utensils that you will be needing are the following:
- A whisk
- A bowl
- A smaller bowl (for mixing the dry ingredients)
- A kitchen weight
- A tablespoon
- A teaspoon
Start by preheating the oven (I usually just set it on full)
First step in making these oh so tasteful cookies is mixing together the brown sugar and the butter. Keep whisking until a creamy consistency is achieved. It is a bit difficult to whisk it up together in the beginning, but keep going until it becomes easy (I use that for a measure of when I should stop and move on to the next step)
Once that creamy consistency is achieved, crack in an egg and add in the vanilla sugar, then keep whisking until a very fluffy and light batter is achieved.
When the batter is "fluffy" it should look like so:
Now set this bowl aside and take out the smaller bowl. In this bowl you should mix in the dry ingredients, which are the flour, the baking powder, and the salt. It would help if you used a sift and sifted the dry ingredients once just to make sure that it was mixed.
The final batch is not "doughy" and hard so don't expect it to be. The final batch should look like so when you have mixed in all of the flour
Now set this mixture aside and give it some time to cool, and in the meanwhile take out the nuts and chocolate and start chopping.
When it is all chopped up mix it in to the batter with the wodden spoon, try to mix it so that the chocolate and nuts are evenly spreaded out.
When all of that is done then take out the baking tray add on a baking sheet and making 25 cookies. Add them onto the baking sheet with a great distance between each other. Try pressing them down lightly.
Now put the bad boys into the oven and have them bake for around 10 minutes at 175 degree celcius. Or until you the edges of the cookies are golden brown.
You should expect the cookies to be soft when you take them out of the oven and they will crumble when you touch them, so set them to cool for around 2 - 5 minutes and then just enjoy them with a glass of cold milk (or tea) or whatever you desire.

(Compilation of my favorite soundtracks and composers)
It is recommended that one studies in total silence, however, I often find myself in a position (whilst studying with everything mute around me) in total distraction. I am just not able to focus on my work. Therefore I have been searching for music that can help improve my concentration and therefore result in an increase in my work quality.
I learned throughout my research process, that it is music with no lyrics that contributes to optimal focus. Because when you hear music with lyrics - or I do - often find myself getting dazed into the song, and I will find myself getting really into the lyrics, and I start to imagine myself in the video scenario and before you know it, I have been doing this for about 20 minutes, and I have wasted really precious study time.
But not every instrumental music works as well, you have to pick out your study music with great causion. For example, house music, and rave music might be instrumental but it doesn't always improve your concentration so here are a few tips that might help you figure out what music works best:
- Video games. Soundtracks made for the purpose of videogames often work really well for studying. This is because the composers put together the music so that it can help you concentrate on the game. For example the soundtrack for infamous composed by James Dooley works great for studying.
- Thriller soundtracks. For the same reasons as the videogame soundtracks, thriller soundtracks work great for concentration, a great example for this could be the "Interstellar" soundtrack composed by Hans Zimmer (Who also composed a great deal for Pirates of The Carribien - which also works great for studying)
- Real instruments. Try to go for music that is made based of real instruments, for example try to avoid "computer made" music such as house music or bass.
Here are some different composers that I find create great music that works wonders for studying:
- Hans Zimmer
- Howard Shore
- James Dooley
And let it be known that some of these have worked together for many things and created even more amazing stuff!
But if you don't want to look any further for great study music, I have compiled a variation of youtube playlists, that works for studying:

They say that the work space determines how much effort one really puts into their work. To me the desk has always been my work space, and I have always been very particular when it came to how it looked. It was always important to me that I kept it clean, that I made it look presentable enough for me to do my work on, and it might sound snobby but I always appreciated how much respect that I gave my homework, how much of an effort I made. Because to me my home work was important it was the fundament for my future, and I had determined right from the start I would not let my homework seem like trash, that I would not make it seem like such a drag for me to do, instead I respected it, and I appreciated it which has resulted in a minor love for beautiful desks and my never ending search for beautiful ways to optimize my work area - the desk
Therefore I have created a collection of desks that inspire me - and might inspire you, but anyway they are certainly beautiful to just watch

Leftover food is almost always do able the next day, but no matter how much we say it, nobody wants to eat the same thing two days in a row. So re inventing new ways to interpertent food without going over the budget has become a little hobby of mine.
Today I had leftover lemon chicken from last nights dinner, which I decided to turn into a quesadillas - a quesadillas is a simple dish made of a tortilla filled with different fillings and then grilled often on a griddle.
Since the leftover chicken I had left was lemon chicken, I decided to pair it with avocado, cheese and salt & pepper. And let it be known that it turned out to be really scrumptious.
The pairing of lemon and avocado is well known and everyone knows that the taste is devine, but adding cheese into that mixture is just simply too good.
Making the quesadilla was not that difficult and it only took me three ingredients for the filling as explained.
What you will need in order to "perfect" this amazingly delightful treat is the following:
- Tortilla
- Cheese
- Chicken
- Avocado
- Salt and pepper
Directions:
Start of by cutting up half an avocado - this is going to be the base in the quesadilla. Take the cut up avocado and start mashing it up with a fork on the cutting bord. When the avocado has reached a thick consitency spread it onto the tortilla. Season with salt and pepper.
Then take the chicken, and if it is not sliced yet then start cutting it into strips. Add the strips onto the avocado mash. Cover with a couple of slices of cheese, and season once again with salt and pepper. Close up the tortilla and put it onto the griddle, let it be there for a couple of minutes until ready.
Serve with sour cream or salsa of your choice, or just like me - enjoy it all by itself!

When in rush we sometimes forget to treat ourselves for food that can "tingle" our taste buds, and we end with consuming the same old unhealthy processed food, and although I am a fan of chips and dip and many other variations of easy access able food I also like to treat my body as the "temple" that it is and give it food that it deserves, and most often I like to treat it with a Spicy Veggie Bowl.
Now a spicy veggie bowl is easy and very cheap to make and it only takes little to no time, which is why it works perfect for me as a breakfast or lunch when I am in rush.
All you need are vegetables that are around you, so literally every vegetable goes well in this bowl.
The things that I however used in my Spicy Veggie Bowl was the following:
- 1 tomato
- 1 cup of spinach
- 1 cup of iceberg lettuce
- 1 medium sized carrot, or 2 small carrots
The spices that I added was the following (no guided measurements are added since I just add what I see as "enough" - by eye sight):
- Chili powder
- Paprika
- Cumin
- Salt
- Pepper
- Lemon juice
- OPTIONAL - Liquid aroma (or vegetable bouillon)
Directions:
In a small pan, heat up about one to two tablespoons of vegetable oil and turn on the heat. While the oil i heating up slice your vegetables - you could make small dices or as me go for medium chunks. In my case I started by roasting the carrots a few minutes before adding in the other ingredients since they need a little more time to soften up. When you think the time is right add in the other vegetables.
Stir the vegetables around the pan for a few minutes until all of the spinach has softened up and it all seems almost cooked. This is when you add in the spices. Star by adding the liquid - such as lemon juice and aroma, and then add in the dry spices.
After you give that a good stir for about one more minute take it off the heat and add into a bowl. Don't waste any juice left on the pan, get it all into the bowl.
I like to eat this with a yogurt dip on top. The yogurt dip is also very easy to make and only take a few ingredients. You can make this dip before hand and store it in your fridge, it goes as a vegetable dip as well.
All you have to do is mix Greek yogurt with about a tablespoon of water (to make it a bit more fluid like - since Greek yogurt has a quite tough consistency) and then add in all the spices that you added into the bowl - BESIDES the chili powder. Because this dip has to work as a form of fire distinguisher and help you turn off the heat in your mouth. I don't add in aroma as well.
Voila you have a great dish, cheap, healthy and ready in less than 10 minutes.
Work hard and stay dedicated
Love,
